Project Scope: Star Group Canada LTD. acted as the General Contractor for the complete renewal and AODA upgrade of the public washrooms at Scarborough GO Station.
Project Detail
The work included complete demolition of existing washroom interiors, including all plumbing fixtures, HVAC components, electrical systems, partitions, wall finishes, ceilings, drains, domestic water lines, sanitary piping, and obsolete support systems. After demolition, we completed a full rebuild of the washrooms Including erecting structural and non structural walls to meet AODA standards, installing new partitions, fixtures, finishes, sanitary and vent systems, DCW/DHW piping, trap seal primers, a new electric domestic water heater (DWH-1), new lighting, new receptacles, GFI outlets, occupancy sensors, emergency lighting, AODA door operator wiring, CAT6 cabling, and public address system connections as shown in the mechanical and electrical drawings. Work was performed in phases to ensure the station remained fully operational. Staging plans were developed to maintain safe public circulation, protect existing utilities, and minimize disruptions. Electrical shutdowns and plumbing tie-ins were performed during off-peak or night hours as required by Metrolinx. All work within pipe chases and confined areas followed specific safety procedures, and temporary services were installed to keep essential systems active.
