Guelph GO Station – Roof & Ceiling Replacement

Project Details

The scope of work included:

  • Removal of existing asphalt shingles, underlayment, and metal flashings.
  • Inspection of the existing roof structure and replacement of deteriorated roof sheathing boards as required.
  • Installation of plywood substrate over existing roof sheathing to create a continuous roof deck.
  • Installation of vapour-permeable underlay membrane and new asphalt roofing shingles in accordance with CSA A123.51 standards.
  • Installation of new metal flashings at roof edges, valleys, and penetrations to improve weather protection and durability.
  • Upgrade of roof insulation with stone wool insulation (R50) to improve thermal performance.
  • Installation of new vapour barrier and air barrier systems within the roof assembly for moisture and air control.
  • Complete removal and replacement of the interior heritage ceiling in the main hall due to water damage from roof leaks.
  • Restoration and repainting of interior areas affected by water infiltration.
  • Repainting of the wood canopy ceiling and coordination with existing roof drainage systems.
  • Work completed in an active GO Station environment with staging, public protection, and coordination with Metrolinx operations while preserving heritage building elements.
