Project Scope: Star Group Canada Ltd. completed rehabilitation and upgrade work at the Hamilton GO Station Bus Loop. The scope of work included a lighting upgrade, bird netting installation, structural steel repairs, and full surface preparation and painting of the entire bus loop structure.
Project Details
All work was completed in an active bus terminal environment and required detailed staging plans, traffic control measures, and coordination with Metrolinx operations to maintain bus service and passenger safety. Work at height was performed using scissor lifts and boom lifts, and work areas were isolated to ensure safe access for buses, pedestrians, and workers throughout construction.
Main Scope of Work Included:
- Removal and replacement/upgrade of existing bus loop lighting fixtures and associated electrical components.
- Installation of bird netting systems on canopy and structural steel members.
- Structural steel repairs including corrosion removal, steel patch repairs, surface preparation, priming, and protective coating application.
- Cleaning, surface preparation, and full painting of bus loop steel and concrete structures, including canopy framing, columns, and structural elements.
- Access to overhead work areas using scissor lifts and boom lifts.
- Implementation of staging plans and work area isolation.
- Implementation of traffic control measures within the bus loop to maintain bus operations and pedestrian safety.
- Coordination of work in an active transit environment with Metrolinx operations.
