Project Scope: Star Group Canada Ltd. completed structural rehabilitation, concrete restoration, and building envelope improvements at the Pickering GO Station multi-level parking garage, while maintaining full public access and station operations.
Project Details
The project required multi-phase construction, staging, traffic control, and coordination with Metrolinx operations to safely complete repairs in an active commuter facility. The work also included rehabilitation activities on the pedestrian bridge over Highway 401, which required additional traffic control coordination for work above the highway.
Main Scope of Work Included:
- Concrete restoration on slabs, beams, walls, columns, and parking surfaces.
- Removal and replacement of expansion joints and control joints.
- Waterproofing and concrete sealer application on parking levels.
- Rust and corrosion removal from structural steel components.
- Door replacements and building envelope improvements.
- Rehabilitation work on pedestrian bridge structures over Highway 401.
- Multi-phase staging and construction sequencing in an occupied facility.
- Traffic control plans for parking garage operations and vehicle circulation.
- Traffic control plans and coordination for work on the pedestrian bridge over Highway 401.
- Pedestrian protection, barricading, and public safety measures.
- Dust, noise, and debris control in an enclosed garage environment.
- Coordination with Metrolinx, consultants, and operations staff.
